For situations where a very high or even extremely high pressure occurs, special solutions have been developed by MCT Brattberg. Very high pressure occurs, for example, at the foundations of offshore windmills, submarines, sub-sea installations and parts around an offshore platform and at pressure vessels. Various solutions from MCT Brattberg have a similar operating principle as the regular transit windows RGS, where, for example, different or heavier materials are used to withstand higher pressures. With other solutions, it is often decided to peel off the cables to be fed through, until the individual conductors can be disconnected. These cores are then individually cast in a special epoxy resin. As a result, the pressure resistance of the penetration remains intact even if the relevant cable is damaged or cut (no liquid or gas can then be moved via the cable itself to another compartment).
The high pressure solutions of MCT Brattberg include the following products: the RGPM, RGPH, PHP seal and LSJ Seal.
Many of MCT Brattberg's high pressure solutions are custom made specifically for the particular application determined in advance by the customer. Depending on the chosen solution, some cases are requested to send us the cable to be fed through. In those cases, the transit is not installed on site, but is integrated in the cable at a location determined in consultation with the customer. After this process, the customer receives the cable back, whereby the penetration (which then still has to be welded into a wall or floor) has become an inseparable part of the cable.
The RGPM penetration is a round pressure seal, approved for continuous pressures up to 15 bar, with almost unlimited possibilities for the passage of cables and pipes, both in terms of numbers and cable diameter.
RGPM transits are always custom made, based on customer specifications and requirements.
The outer diameter of the RGPM pressure seal is matched to the inner diameter of the pipe or hole in which the unit is to be mounted.
The seals are made of nitrile rubber as standard, but other materials can be used depending on the precise application. The metal parts are made of stainless steel, hot dip galvanized.
The RGPM can also be installed and blind sealed for later installation of cables or pipes.
In installations where the pressure can vary, a self-closing version of RGPM can be used. In that case, the seal adapts to the pressure.
Certificates
The RGPH is a customized high pressure seal for multiple cables and pipes.
The RGPH can be designed to seal 1-36 cables with a diameter of 4-110 mm, depending on the pressure.
The RGPH system is available in six sizes, designated by seal diameter (mm), RGPH-50, 70, 100, 125, 150 and 200.
Can be designed to seal 1-36 cables with a diameter of 4-110mm depending on the pressure.
The RGPH has a high-quality round steel housing that must be welded on site. The cables are individually sealed by means of plug-in blocks.
The RGPH can be designed to pass any amount of cables. Because the RGPH has a modular construction, just like a conventional RGP transit, the number of cables through the transit can easily be increased or decreased.
Each RGPH is specifically designed for customer needs. The RGPH high pressure seal is available with flange for bolting or without flange for welding. The RGPH is widely used in offshore installations and in various types of submarines.
Certificates and Reports:
The PHP (Pressure Hull Penetrator) is used to run an electrical cable through a pressure hull. In the event that the cable is damaged on the high-pressure side, the penetration in the pressure hull forms a pressure-tight unit against overpressure, whereby water or gas that ends up in the jacket is also stopped by the PHP. The test pressure is 90 bar.
The PHP cable entry is used to protect against incoming pressure (water or other medium) that is exerted on the pressure hull, or on the interior of the cable itself, as soon as it is damaged or cut. Dimensions and cable types for which the PHP will be used are determined by the customer. In general, the PHP offers the same protection as the cable itself. The PHP transit is currently used in both regular ships (on or near the hull), submarines and oil rigs. Various materials can be supplied for the metal parts, according to customer requirements.
The LSJ (Longitudinal Sealing Joint) is used to route an electrical cable through a tank/pipe between two pressure-tight sections and to form a pressure-tight unit with the tank/pipe (RGPH seal) against incoming overpressure through the cable, if this is damaged or cut on the high pressure side.
The test pressure is 90 bar.
There are two types of LSJ:
LVT Longitudinal sealed (the basic type of PHP).
When a cable is cut on the high pressure side (HP) PHP stops incoming water and protects the low pressure side (LP) from overpressure and water.
LVTT Longitudinal and transverse sealed
If one or more of the cables on the high pressure side (HP) are damaged or cut, these cables will be blocked, while the undamaged cables will continue to function.
Both types (LVT and LVTT) can be supplied with built-in protection against EMP/EMC (Electromagnetic Pulse from Lightning and Nuclear Explosion).
