Seematz searchlights are specially designed for the harsh conditions at sea. Based on more than 45 years of experience, Seematz now offers a range of extremely robust and high-quality searchlights. The searchlights are available with different light sources, both halogen, xenon and LED, and in various sizes and designs. Today, the striking yellow color of the searchlights guarantees unparalleled longevity and quality, much appreciated by the crew.
Seematz searchlights are available in different versions
Seematz searchlights are available in three types of light: LED, Halogen and Xenon. Halogen lamps offer a competitive price level in combination with a lot of light and a fairly wide beam, suitable for operations close to the ship, including man overboard situations. Xenon is recommended when a large amount of light, a small angle or a long range is required. Xenon also delivers bright color, including much of the blue spectrum, making this light source best suited for arctic environments.
LED is often chosen for its long life and low running costs (minimum maintenance). The latest versions of LED searchlights also bring several new benefits: a wide-beam LED searchlight is even more suitable for close-range operations than halogen, while a 463 narrow-beam LED searchlight can meet the high demands of use on board FiFi vessels . In addition, LED lamps are very resistant to vibrations and the searchlight hardly ever needs to be tinkered with to exchange the light source. After all, an LED searchlight assumes 50,000 burning hours.

From the start in the mid-1980s, TTT has consciously chosen to support the products it supplies with technical service, both from our workshop and on location. TTT regularly carries out service work on Seematz searchlights on board ships, regardless of their location anywhere in the world. On request, commissioning can also take place or an exchange of parts, directly on board, can ensure that a searchlight functions optimally again. If desired, we can also upgrade to LED on board.

Seematz searchlights have been chosen since the early 1970s for their extreme reliability and robustness, ensuring unparalleled searchlight life.
The searchlights are made of seawater resistant aluminum and have extra hardened BI-VETRAL security fronts. The reflectors are made of aluminum as standard. The electrical arrangement of the searchlights has also been carefully designed to remain reliable under the toughest conditions. 400W heating is standard on 230VAC searchlights, which is useful for use in very cold environments.
The back of the searchlight head can be opened with quick releases. The cable glands are also mounted there. For example, the direct removal of a complete plug-in unit is possible, including the mirror, lamp, electrical connection and heating. It also makes it easier to replace the light source.
Deck mounted versions (DS and DH) are the simplest and most cost effective version of any searchlight. It is operated directly from behind the searchlight.
Wheelhouse versions (WS and WH), which operate on the basis of manual operation below decks, offer a relatively inexpensive alternative to electrically operated searchlights. In addition, customers sometimes consciously opt for a searchlight operated below deck because of the intuitive and extremely direct and fast way of operating. The construction is completely waterproof and the searchlight is easy to install, even in roofs with thick insulation.
Remote controlled versions (type EF) are designed to be operated from the wheelhouse and have become the industry standard. The EF type searchlights are controlled from a control panel, connected to a power supply. EF searchlights can optionally be equipped with focus, zero position switch and digital position indication. EF searchlights can also be run as a Tower type, which is especially useful if a xenon searchlight (XBO) is installed. In that case, the necessary ballast can be placed in the tower.
The Seematz searchlights come in various sizes, with a larger reflector and more powerful lamp providing a greater range. The standard dimensions, which indicate the cross-section of the head in mm, are as follows:
1000W halogen searchlight, tower version
1000W halogen searchlight
3 x 3000W Xenon (XBO) searchlights for the most cold and extreme conditions. Incl 400W heating against freezing.
The trusted Seematz searchlights are now also available with LED as the light source. LED as the basis for a searchlight offers several advantages. In addition to the obvious reduction in power consumption compared to a conventional light source, the LED unit used is not only less maintenance-friendly, but also more resistant to vibrations on board. There is also the option of upgrading to LED for existing, conventional searchlights. With an existing halogen Seematz searchlight, only the head needs to be exchanged. This also applies to electrically operated searchlights: the lower box, control panel and cabling can all be left undisturbed.
ADVANTAGES OF LED SEARCHLIGHTS
Upgrading halogen searchlight
Upgrading an existing halogen searchlight to an LED searchlight is very easy. Only the head of the searchlight has to be exchanged for this. To see how easy it is, we have a short video instruction on how to replace the head.
TTT has an extensive stock of spare parts for all types of searchlight, so that desired parts can be shipped the same day. Shipping is possible to any location, worldwide. Based on this stock of parts, service work on location can also be planned at very short notice, which can be completed immediately in almost all cases.
In addition to parts, TTT also has complete searchlights in stock, so that a defective or poorly functioning searchlight can be replaced urgently if required.
