Searchlights are used on board ships, and sometimes offshore platforms, for various purposes. For example, a searchlight is used to illuminate the waterway at night, to detect ice formations in time during ice shipping, during man over board (MOB) situations or when illuminating work situations, such as docking a tugboat.

TTTBV has been an importer for Seematz searchlights in the Benelux since 1984. In addition, TTTBV also supplies the search lights from Norselight, which is part of the Glamox Group together with the brand name Aqua Signal, Glamox and LINKSrechts.
Depending on the use, different requirements may apply to a searchlight. In all cases, a searchlight has a lot to endure during its lifespan: movement and vibrations, voltage changes, salty air, temperature fluctuations, rapidly changing weather conditions and the processing of large quantities of tube water. For that reason, robustness and continued functioning under extreme conditions are vital for a searchlight. It is precisely these requirements that have formed the basis of the Seematz brand for many decades.
Norselight searchlights also have a good reputation, with Norselight including very compact Xenon searchlights in its range. These searchlights are very interesting for compact work vessels and, for example, on board offshore platforms
Basically we make a distinction between searchlights based on the light source. For regular use, including illuminating the immediate vicinity of the ship and shining ahead over short or medium distances, halogen searchlights are normally chosen. Versions of 150-5,000 W are available, whereby a higher power is coupled with a larger housing.
For longer distances, but also for example for ice shipping, xenon searchlights are often chosen. Specifically for ice navigation, metal-halide searchlights (HMI) are also available if required. The xenon searchlights normally have a narrow beam and a very high range, up to many kilometers.
For some years now, reliable LED searchlights have also been available that can compete well with halogen searchlights and even with smaller xenon searchlights. The LED searchlights provide particularly pleasant light over a wide spectrum, are highly resistant to vibrations and have a very long service life.
All types of searchlight, including halogen, xenon, metal halide and LED, can be supplied with various manual or electrical controls. In addition to direct operation, for example from the bridge wing, under-deck operation is possible. With both variants, different lengths are possible, both from the upright column under the searchlight and from the under control column. Fully electric control is also possible from a control panel in the desk. If desired, the control can also be linked to a general on-board operating system.
400W heating is optionally available for all searchlights, for use in cold environments.
Within searchlights we distinguish the following product groups:
Halogen - All halogen searchlights of 150W-5000W
Xenon - All xenon searchlights 150W-7.000W
LED - All LED searchlights, incl. New X-Light
Daytime running lights - Mobile set with signal lamp, battery and matching suitcase
Spare Parts - Spare parts for the searchlights
