Based on the Aqua Signal brand, Glamox has a complete series of approved navigation lanterns for all kinds of ships. In addition to the navigation lanterns, Aqua Signal also has control panels in its range.

Especially with navigation lighting, the use of LED offers enormous benefits. It goes without saying that the switch from conventional incandescent lamps to LED results in energy savings. Although the saving is huge in terms of percentage, more than 90%, the effects are minimal in absolute terms. However, the lifespan of the LED navigation lanterns, which in practice exceeds 10 years, is of decisive importance for ship owners and the crew. Where a traditional incandescent lamp in a navigation lantern has to be changed on average more than 7 times a year, exchanging the light source with an LED navigation lantern is no longer necessary.
Apart from saving time when exchanging the light bulbs, choosing LED also means: no longer ordering expensive light bulbs, no longer spending time on administration, no more storage required for spare bulbs.
But perhaps the most important advantage of the LED navigation lantern is that exchanging light bulbs not only takes a lot of time, but also entails risks. This is especially the case if the navigation lanterns, which according to SOLAS legislation must always be functional, have to be changed during (sometimes rough) seas.
Glamox offers its own control panel for navigation lanterns from the Aqua Signal brand, which is type approved by DNV-GL. This can be used in combination with both conventional lanterns and LED lanterns, or a combination of both.
The Glamox control panel consists of a control unit (built-in panel) and a switching and monitoring unit in a steel cabinet.
The switching and monitoring unit is mounted on a plate that is housed in a steel case. It contains the relay cards, a power supply unit, fuses or circuit breakers and connection terminals. In the event of a failure of the control unit, the lamps can be switched manually here (obligation according to regulations).
The Aqua Signal navigation panel can be connected to external systems with a BUS interface. Uni- or bidirectional data transfer is possible (RS485, RS232, Ethernet via http web server or Modbus TCP).
The various navigation lanterns are available as complete series. We have divided the available series based on the length of the ship for which they are intended. In practice, the lanterns, suitable for ships from 20m, are mainly used for commercial ships. For the smaller commercial ships, such as tugboats, small ferries and small research vessels, the series suitable for 20-50m can also be chosen. For specific ship types, such as dredgers, however, it is sometimes necessary to switch to a specific series for smaller ship lengths in order to also have specifically required navigation lanterns (in this example: dredging lights).
