One of the latest jobs of the Theunissen service department is the conversion of the Stolt Stream tanker in Singapore. The 162m long chemical tanker from Stolt Tankers Rotterdam was equipped with a new communication system from Vingtor Stentofon during the dry docking period in Singapore.
The conversion was preceded by careful preparation, in which the old programming was converted into programming for the new system using new connection and conversion lists.
On board the old ASA-101 central has been replaced by a modern equivalent of Vingtor Stentofon, the ACM-48. The old PA system has been retained and replaced in the new cabinet. The old cabling has been partially replaced for the conversion and welding boxes have been redesigned and connected at various locations.
The complete communication system on board has been tested and delivered incl. Alarm outputs for signaling, V-sat connection and Iridium telephone.
The Vingtor Stentofon systems are specially designed for shipping and have proven to be reliable. In addition, parts will now be readily available worldwide and now and in the future. Compatibility with older versions is therefore an important point of attention within the further development for the Vingtor Stentofon product line.
