Commissioned by the French shipping company Jifmar Offshore Services, Neptune has started building the first large sailing freighter ever made, called 'the Canopée'.
The ship is equipped with four 30 meter high Oceanwings of 375 m². These sails have already been mounted on several ships, including the Energy Observer in particular. The Canopée will also be equipped with diesel/LNG engines to reduce polluting emissions such as fine particulate matter or sulfur dioxide.
The variable speed propellers can be switched to spring mode when the ocean wing wind system provides enough effective power for the vessel at speed. Resulting in shutting down both or one of the two main engines. Delivery of the ship is scheduled for the end of 2022.
For the Canopée, TTTBV supplies an ACM integrated communication system for telephone and talk back, SPA public address system with general alarm distribution and also the VSP emergency communication system. The engineering of the systems was provided by TTTBV in consultation with C-Systems. Delivery of these Zenitel systems will take place in the first quarter of this year.
