This year, the Aqua Signal brand is celebrating its 150th anniversary. The German navigation lighting company was founded in 1868 in Bremen as Ahlemann & Schlatter and then produced petroleum navigation lights. A few years later they started to specialize in maritime applications for their navigation lighting.
Due to the ability to adapt to the needs and requirements of the customer, Aqua Signal has succeeded in surviving the competition. Taking new paths with new products has been an important part of this. In 1975 the company was the first to launch a lantern that was only made of polycarbonate and complied with the IMO regulations. In 1984 they developed electronic control systems for navigation lanterns based on microchips and already in 2000 Glamox Aqua Signal launched its first LED products.
In 1995, Aqua Signal was acquired by the Norwegian Glamox. At Glamox, the products with the Aqua Signal brand are presented as part of their extensive product range of maritime lighting products.
Today, Glamox Aqua Signal is the world market leader in lighting solutions for the maritime and offshore sector, including leisure and mega yachts.
