Fuel is not only the largest consumable on board any ship, but also the largest variable in the overall operation. Therefore, a focus on fuel savings is the best way to achieve savings in operating costs (OPEX). By using systems that provide insight into the ship's performance, the crew is enabled to make the right, data-driven decisions to keep operational costs as low as possible. The solutions offered can be applied to a new ship to be built, but can certainly also be retrofitted to existing ships.
Our Insatech range consists of the following systems:

Insight into the performance of a ship offers the possibility to make real-time choices that lead to the most sustainable sailing of the ship. Increasing crew awareness and knowledge about current fuel consumption and ship performance, as well as, for example, the optimal sailing route and speed, is key to minimizing the impact on the environment. ie operating costs. Insatech offers tailor-made solutions that provide detailed insight into the performance of each vessel. In addition to Fuel Monitoring, with an emphasis on minimizing fuel consumption, the Performance Monitoring system provides a broader insight into critical performance indicators (KPIs) on board, such as oil consumption, output of the generators, pressure on the propeller shaft and the impact of weather influences. Based on a large number of performance indicators, the crew is enabled to perform optimal ship operations, aimed at the minimum possible carbon footprint. By comparing data from multiple ships and logging 24/7 via the automatic logging system, fleet efficiency can be further optimized from the head office. Insatech Fleet Viewer is available for this.
SAGA Modular performance platform
Insatech offers various monitoring systems, based on a modular construction of systems based on the Insatech SAGA platform. The SAGA Platform is an extremely flexible platform, where the most diverse data from the ship or from an entire fleet is collected, analysed, logged and applied. This uses data collected using meters and sensors supplied by Insatech, as well as existing sources or other third-party systems and instruments. Some features of the SAGA platform:

Software becomes customers property
Insatech provides a total solution for your ship or collection of ships. A multitude of data is collected here, which provides insight into the performance of the ship, the fuel consumption and the efficiency of the propulsion processes. All this data is collected and analyzed on the basis of software, which is made fully available to the customer. This means that no form of subscription is taken out. In this way, Insatech also contributes to keeping operational costs as low as possible.
Installation of measurement systems on existing ships
When considering purchasing a Fuel Monitoring or Performance Monitoring system for an existing vessel, material costs are only part of the total investment. At least as important is a flexible installation of the various systems and sensors, which hinders the operation of the ship as little as possible. Insatech specializes in the fast and flexible installation of its systems on existing ships. This is possible, for example, by carrying out the installation in a short time during a docking, or by carrying out work with a compact team during shipping, for example between two ports. A lot of time can also be saved by using pre-fabricated tailor-made piping. Based on detailed pre-inspections, all needs related to instrumentation and measurement systems are mapped out together with the customer. Based on both on-board inspections and careful consultation with regard to all customer requirements, a good and practical plan is made for the eventual implementation on board.
Examples of instruments used to accurately measure performance indicators are:
The Insatech Performance Monitoring system optimizes the operational performance of a vessel, or collection of vessels, by collecting and interpreting large amounts of data. Based on the collected data, both from own instruments and sensors and from third party equipment, the operator of the ship or of the fleet is assisted in making the right decisions with the help of graphically displayed information. Information that is logged 24/7 over time can also be analysed, so that more optimal choices can be made with regard to planning, sailing routes and loading of ships.
The Insatech Performance Monitoring system is ideally suited to easily meet the requirements for a Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan (SEEMP), required according to MARPOL Annex VI. Using the system simplifies your decision-making process as collecting data from multiple instruments and consumers gives you an overall picture of vessel consumption. The system can be deployed at fleet level.

The Fuel Consumption system provides real-time data on current fuel consumption. The information about your fuel consumption, in combination with data from other sources, gives you insight into how internal and external influences influence the actual consumption. In many cases, fuel costs are the most important component in a ship's operating costs. An investment in a Fuel Consumption system from Insatech, which makes sailing more efficient and fuel-conscious, can therefore be earned back in a short time.

The Fleet Management system builds on the Performance Monitoring system. Using the Insatech DataLink, all data from each ship is sent to shore. External data is also collected, such as weather information and forecasts, position in relation to ECA areas, current data from shippers at ports, etc. The operator on shore is provided with a FleetViewer system. In essence, this is an overarching dashboard, on which the various ships can be followed, including the specific data per ship.
The Insatech Fleet Management system makes it possible to analyze differences between similar ships, performance or the same routes or the impact of a different crew on emissions and operational costs. A separate server is supplied with the Fleet Management System, which is installed ashore. We do not work with any form of subscription: the hardware, software and data are and remain the full property of the ship owner.

Fuel costs are by far the most important component in total operating costs (OPEX). For that reason, Insatech offers, among other things, the Fuel Consumption system and the Performance Monitoring system. In addition to the conscious and careful consumption of fuel on board, it is also important to only pay for the actual quantities of fuel that are refueled at a bunker station. Unfortunately, it cannot always be assumed that the invoiced volumes of fuel have actually been delivered, for example due to the presence of air in the supplied fuel.
Among other things, the Insatech Bunker Management System uses stable Coriolis mass flow meters, which can detect unintentional or deliberate attempts to manipulate the amount of marine fuel. For example, intentionally or unintentionally, there may be too high a proportion of air or water in the fuel, or, for example, fuel is supplied at too high a temperature, as a result of which the volume of the fuel temporarily increases. The mass flow meters, which can measure the actual volume of the fuel very accurately, provide the operator on board with real-time information about the actual amount of fuel filled.
Depending on the customer's preference, an alarm can also be triggered or an automatic message sent, for example to the operator. In this way it can not only be established in good time that the bunkered quantities deviate from the specified volume, legal disputes or claims about incorrectly issued fuel quantities can also be prevented. Many Insatech customers swear by the use of an Insatech Bunker Management System: “In a single bunker operation, we recently discovered a fuel shortage of 53.3 tons; that missed amount of fuel was worth $32,000 at the time. By directly pointing out the deviation in volume to the bunker station, this error could be rectified on site. In these types of incidents, the investment in the Bunker Management System has already paid for itself in just 2 bunker operations. Insatech's Bunker Management System is produced in-house and can therefore be fully custom-made for each ship and each specific fuel tank.
